The (post) modern electronic ecstatic dance phenomenon is infused with a new ethics that claims to take seriously the movement's mantra "PLUR" (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect). While ravers themselves debate whether the "movement" subverts or supports mainstream cultural values, the U.S. Government has officially declared the happenings as events non grata. Local ordinances as well as federal legislation aim to limit, if not entirely outlaw, rave events, characterizing them as little more than gathering spots for dealers of the drug MDMA (Ecstasy) and other "club drugs" to sell their poison to America's youth.

Cognitive Liberty is implicated anytime that peaceful people are persecuted by the government for exercising their right to enter ecstatic states of mind, with or without the use of drugs.

E: Prescription for Cultural Renaissance, by Douglas Rushkoff

"The music, lighting, and ambience were all fine-tuned to elicit and augment altered states of consciousness. The rhythm of the music was a precise 120 beats-per-minute, the frequency of the fetal heart rate, and the same beat used by South American shaman to bring their tribes into a trance state.  Through dancing together, without prescribed movements or even partners, rave dancers sought to reach group consciousness on a level they had never experienced  before. The object of a rave was to experience a reality that went beyond the self.  Ravers aspired to an awareness of group organism.  Inspired by the holograms and fractals on their computers, they sought to create a dynamic system in which each member could experience the essence of the whole."

Rave is the Rapture

"Everything changes when you start to emit your own frequency rather than absorb the frequencies around you, when you start imprinting your intent on the Universe rather than receiving an imprint from the Universe."
