New medicines for both body and mind are
being developed everyday and new applications of ancient drugs are gaining recognition in
the medical field. In particular, advances in brain research and the study
of brain chemistry are introducing novel possibilities for
neurotherapy, neuropharmacology an even neurotheology.
Drug laws and regulations must be carefully analyzed and crafted to
preserve an open scientific forum for pharmacological research. The
recommendations of doctors and researchers should take precedent over law
enforcement. Ultimately, the system should empower individuals to make
intelligent and informed decisions about the drugs they decide to take.
Under no circumstances should individuals be compelled to take certain
drugs, nor be prohibited from doing so, so long as they do not engage in
behavior that harms others. The CCLE supports innovation in
pharmacological research and application, and respects the cognitive
liberty of those who wish to use both ancient and modern medicines in
novel ways.

transaction allowed Pfizer Inc. to acquire Pharmacia Corporation, creating
the largest pharmaceutical company in the world. With anticipated annual
revenues of $48 billion, the newly concocted Pfizer-Pharmacia mega-company
will have unsurpassed global dominance on some of the most lucrative
pharmaceutical drugs available on the market. The potential side effects
of the merger on consumers, seems to have gone unnoticed."
